Tumakuru Deanary Lenten Convention

Tumakuru, 01 March 2020: As the Holy Season of Lent has begun, the Archdiocesan Commission for Proclamation and Evangelization in collaboration with the Tumakuru Deanery organized a Lenten Bible Convention from Saturday, 29th February to Sunday, 1st March 2020.

The convention witnessed the participation of approximately 1500 faithful coming to hear the Word of God and manifesting their commitment to live the season of Lent in a fruitful manner.


The Bible Convention culminated with the solemn Holy Eucharistic Celebration presided over by the Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado, Metropolitan Archbishop of Bangalore.

Speaking in his homily, the Archbishop stressed upon the evangelization and thrust of the mission by the laity. "Lay people play a major role in evangelization. They are the key instruments in bringing more people to God," the Prelate added.


Rev. Fr. Anthony Prasad, the Secretary for the Archdiocesan Commission for Proclamation and Evangelization, Rev. Fr. James Prabhu, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Tumakuru, and large number of religious nuns were also present for the convention.

People belonging to all the 8 parishes of Tumakuru Deanary participated and prayed in the Lenten convention. Tumakuru is one of the 6 civil districts belonging to the Archdiocese of Bangalore.
