Bangalore Archdiocese applauds Major Neil Silas Lobo on receiving the SENA Medal (Gallantry) by the Government of India

Bangalore, January 15, 2022: Born to Mr. Leo Lobo and Mrs. Matilda Fernandes on 7th July 1990, Major Neil Silas Lobo exhibited unwavering passion to serve in the Armed Forces. He finished his primary schooling at St. Anthony's School (Good Shepherd Convent), secondary schooling at St. Joseph's High School, and completed PUC or Plus One studies at St Joseph's Pre University College, Bangalore. Major Neil Silas Lobo also obtained his BBM in St Joseph's College of Commerce, Bangalore.

Following his vocational calling, Neil Silas Lobo enrolled himself in the Indian Army recruitment and was graduated from IMA Dehradun on 13th December 2014, and subsequently was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the 8th Light Cavalry, Armored Corps. He was promoted to Captain in December 2016. In 2019, he was posted in Rashtriya Rifles in Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir.  

On 19th October 2020, he led a counter - terrorist operation and was succeeded in neutralizing 2 terrorists. He was promoted to the rank of Major in December 2020.  

Major Neil Silas Lobo is married to Shriya Sikchi and has a 11 month old baby named Nathan Caleb Lobo.  

As a student, Major Neil was very active during his college days as well as in Church activities such as Youth Club and Parish choir. He was a parishioner of St. Jude's Church, RT Nagar, Bangalore, until he joined the Army. He is an excellent sportsman who still plays for his army unit and a firmly believes in service more than uttering prayers.  

Archdiocese of Bangalore is indeed proud of Major Neil Silas Lobo and prays for Lord's blessings and divine protection as he serves our country in various capacities as a soldier.
